A World Athletics Label Road Race in Uganda
Set against the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains in Kasese, Uganda, the Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon is East Africa’s only World Athletics Label Road Race.
Runners choose from four distances — 42km, 21km, 10km, and 5km — starting at the Equator around Queen Elizabeth National Park and finishing with the Rwenzoris as a backdrop, including the iconic Kilembe climb.
Since launching in 2022, the race has grown from 800 to nearly 10,000 runners from 50+ countries and now serves as an official qualifier for the Comrades and Two Oceans marathons. The 2026 edition takes place August 22 in Kasese.
