{"id":5346,"date":"2022-06-19T07:51:00","date_gmt":"2022-06-19T07:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/exploreuganda.com\/test\/?p=5346"},"modified":"2024-05-20T08:01:51","modified_gmt":"2024-05-20T08:01:51","slug":"utb-unveils-the-explore-uganda-brand-chogm2022-in-kigali-rwanda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/exploreuganda.com\/test\/utb-unveils-the-explore-uganda-brand-chogm2022-in-kigali-rwanda\/","title":{"rendered":"UTB Unveils the Explore Uganda Brand CHOGM2022 In Kigali, Rwanda"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Kigali, Rwanda, 19<\/strong><strong>th&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>June 2022:&nbsp;<\/strong>Uganda Tourism Board in partnership with the Uganda&nbsp;High Commission in Kigali, will showcase Uganda\u2019s tourism potential during the 26th&nbsp;Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2022 in Kigali, Rwanda under the theme&nbsp;<strong>\u2018<em>\u2019Delivering A Common Future: Connecting, Innovation, and&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Transforming.\u2019\u2019<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ahead of the official opening ceremony, last evening, the Uganda High Commission-\u00a0Kigali and UTB hosted a Uganda Night at the Chancery in Kacyiru and unveiled the new Pearl of Africa Destination brand to over half a million potential travelers in the\u00a0<em>city of a thousand hills<\/em>. Uganda\u2019s tourism private sector will also participate in networking opportunities during the Street Festival that will showcase Uganda\u2019s unique cuisine, culture and tourism potential\u00a0in partnership with the Uganda Tourism Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rwanda is the second leading source market for Uganda after Kenya fetching over 22,660 tourists in 2020 following a significant decline in arrivals in 2019. Both countries share common transboundary ethnicity, history, culture and natural resources. Therefore, these shared resources and heritage call for collective marketing and tourism product development through collaborative transboundary interventions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<em>Uganda\u2019s participation in CHOGM 2022 is an excellent opportunity to promote Uganda\u2019s tourism opportunities under the \u201cExplore Uganda\u201d destination brand and to communicate to CHOGM 20022 delegates about the transboundary tourism products between the two nations\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Amb. Anne Katusiime, Uganda\u2019 Deputy High&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>Commissioner to Kigali, Rwanda.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On&nbsp;her&nbsp;part,&nbsp;<strong>Ms Lilly Ajarova, the UTB CEO&nbsp;<\/strong>applauded the Uganda High Commission&nbsp;in Kacyiru, Kigali for spearheading Uganda\u2019s tourism promotion during the CHOGM 2022. \u201c<em>The event and its side activities will create amazing tourism opportunities for&nbsp;<\/em><em>Uganda\u2019s public and private sector stakeholders but also promote intra-regional travel between the two states. The East African Community has also developed a joint marketing strategy that will position East Africa as one a single tourism destination. Member states will create itineraries that include exclusive tourism experiences across the six countries. Travel in the region has also been enhanced by the East African Tourist Visa between Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CHOGM 2022 will take place from&nbsp;<strong>20<\/strong><strong>th&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>\u2013 25<\/strong><strong>th&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>June 2022&nbsp;<\/strong>in Kigali, Rwanda.
