The Elgon Half Marathon 2025 returns to Mbale, Uganda, this November for its 3rd edition — uniting athletes, organizations, and communities under the theme of sports for sustainable development, gender equality, and climate action.
Organized in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Joshua Cheptegei Development Foundation (JOCDEF), this year’s marathon continues to champion youth empowerment, inclusive growth, and the transformative power of sports in driving social change.
Event Highlights
Race Categories: 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km (Half Marathon) for all age groups and fitness levels.
Gender Equality & GBV Awareness: Advocating for the end of gender-based violence and empowering women and girls through sport.
